How far ahead should I book?
For weddings, 6 to 12 months is ideal. Summer Saturdays go fast. Private events and club nights often work on shorter notice. When in doubt, grab a call and I'll tell you straight whether your date's open.
What does a wedding with you cost?
Every wedding is a little different: hours, venue size, ceremony + reception, lighting. Wedding DJ and MC coverage runs $1,750 to $2,500: $1,750 to $2,250 for dinner and dancing, $2,250 to $2,500 for the full day. The exact quote comes on a quick call once I know the shape of your day.
How do payments work?
A 50% deposit locks your date and quoted price. The remaining 50% is due before the event. E-transfer is the standard payment method, and the full schedule is written into your quote and contract.
Do you travel outside Ottawa?
Yes. Ottawa and the Valley are home base all wedding season, from the first wedding in May to the last in October; Medellín the rest of the year; and I take destination weddings. Travel is quoted simply, no surprises.
What do I get on the day?
A warm MC, premium sound sized to your venue, and clean dancefloor lighting. Grand entrance, speeches, first dance, all cued and on time, so you never think about the music once.
What happens after we book?
You get a planning call to build your timeline, and your must-play / do-not-play lists. I show up early, set up clean, and run the night.
What does your mixing sound like?
Clean and quick. Barely any sound effects, remixes that lift the energy without changing the song, and nothing overstays: a verse and a chorus, then on to the next. A real sing-along plays all the way through.
What music do you play?
Whatever your crowd responds to. I read the floor live instead of following a script. The core is tech house and afro house, with Top 40, hip hop, R&B, Latin, reggaeton, country and throwbacks on top, and English and Spanish mixed to match your guest list. On the planning call you hand over a must-play list and a do-not-play list, and the night is built inside them. Guests can send requests live at djseanchi.com/request, and anything that clashes with your plan gets a polite pass. Clean edits are available for family events.
Are you insured?
Yes. I carry liability insurance, and a certificate naming your venue is available on request, so send the venue's exact name and any requirements early. SOCAN and Re:Sound licensing belongs to the venue or the event, so ask your venue if it's covered. Backup laptops, mixers, speakers, mics and cables come to every wedding. How do we check if our date is open?
Use the date checker at the top of this page, text or call 604 968 7078, or book a 30 minute call at calendly.com/sean-chi6/30min. I reply within 24 hours with a straight answer on whether your date is open and whether I cover your area. There is no deposit to enquire, and the call doesn't hold your date. A 50% deposit by Interac e-Transfer does, once you have your quote.
Guests can send song requests live from the floor. Sean takes requests and weighs them against your must-play and do-not-play lists: if something clashes with the plan, he politely sidesteps it and stays on course. Send a request ▸

A package built around your day, not a preset: the dance floor only, or ceremony to last dance, and anything in between. Every one comes with a DJ who also MCs (Sean, or a teammate confirmed before you book), a planning call for your timeline and must-plays, and premium sound plus dancefloor lighting sized to your room. Same as his sets, nothing is a template.
